Turtles of Wisconsin-Celebrate World Turtle Day – May 23
Thursday May 23rd - 6:00 PM to 7:00PM
World Turtle Day is celebrated annually on May 23rd, and is a great opportunity to raise awareness about the conservation of turtles and their habitats. In Wisconsin, we are lucky to have 11 species of turtles. However, due to habitat loss and other human impacts, turtle populations across the state are in decline.
During the event at the Hausmann Nature Center, you will have the chance to learn about the unique characteristics of each turtle species, their behavior, and their role in the ecosystem. You will also learn about the threats they face and how we can all play a role in protecting and conserving these amazing creatures.
So, come celebrate World Turtle Day and join Waukesha County Land Conservancy’s Land Management Director, Helen Holtz, at the Hausmann Nature Center to learn more about Wisconsin's turtles and how we can all help ensure their survival.
A recommended $5 donation the day of the event would be appreciated.
