On Tuesday evening, July 14, John McCarthy recognized Anne Riendl for her many years of outstanding service as Chairperson of the Friends of Lapham Peak Snowmaking Committee. As Anne steps down from this leadership role, she officially passed the reins of the committee to Jim Marschalek.
Under Anne's dedicated leadership, Lapham Peak's snowmaking system underwent remarkable growth and improvement. During her tenure, the committee oversaw numerous phases of expansion and modernization that transformed the park's winter recreation opportunities. These accomplishments included the development of lighted ski trails, the installation and expansion of the man-made snowmaking system, and major improvements to the well, pumps, pond, underground piping, electrical infrastructure, snow guns, and trail grooming equipment.
In appreciation of her vision, leadership, and countless hours of volunteer service, Anne was presented with a model snow gun—complete with fluffy earmuffs—as a lighthearted tribute to the many cold days and nights she devoted to helping make Lapham Peak one of Wisconsin's premier cross-country skiing destinations.
The Friends of Lapham Peak extend their sincere gratitude to Anne for her years of dedication and wish Jim Marschalek every success as he assumes leadership of the Snowmaking Committee.
