New 2026 Accessible Pier & Path Project

The Friends of Lapham Peak are launching an exciting 2026 project to replace the aging fishing pier at Lupo Pond with a modern, fully accessible pier that meets ADA/ABA guidelines. The new pier will be located on the south side of the pond and connected to the Lapham Lodge sidewalk by a smooth asphalt path, ensuring easy access for visitors of all abilities.

The project is estimated at $65,500, with a $20,000 matching Knowles-Nelson Friends Stewardship Grant already secured through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for the pier. Additional funding is being pursued for the path, but about $45,000 in donations is still needed. With design planned for this summer and installation targeted for fall 2026, this long-envisioned improvement will help make Lapham Peak more welcoming and accessible for everyone.
