Friends of Lapham Peak awarded “Friends Group of the Year”
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources awarded The Friends of Lapham Peak, the “Friends Group of the Year” for 2023! An informal, impromptu ceremony was held on December 15, with a number of the Friends Members, as we received the award on behalf of the Friends Group. Greetings! Plans for the Lapham Lodge project have been under review by State and Federal agencies for several months. These reviews, when completed, will allow the Friends to put the project out for bidding by general contractors. This should occur in early 2024, and will tell us if we have the funds needed, based on the bids. The hope is that this will lead to a construction start in spring 2024, with completion of the […]

The Waukesha/Milwaukee Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance will again be hosting hikes at Lapham Peak, starting at Noon on January 1st. All 3 hike options will start (and end) at the Mike Fort Shelter at Homestead Hollow. A bonfire with hot chocolate and cookies will be provided.

Thanks to Freddy Hertneky and his Eagle Scout project, and our “Buckthorn Busters” we now have a new firepit and firewood rack at Homestead Hollow’s Trecker Lodge. “Feel the Burn” is the major fundraiser for Lapham Peak State Park’s prairie management. “Feel the Burn” is limited to 175 participants; therefore, registering early is encouraged.
